A very pleasant read! But I’m a bit surprised nobody here in the comments section has mentioned females over 50 as great dating partners. So I guess I’ll take the liberty of taking the honour.
For much of the same reasons as the author gave us on why older men are fair candidates for dating (for women interested in men) — and I’ve added a couple more below — I found that as a young-ish heterosexual adult male dating older women (by 10 years or more) was wonderful. I’m not in the young-age bracket anymore, but I happened to recently date older women, albeit closer to my age — and I suppose it’s just due to simple demographics. There are fewer ladies in my area who are available and ten years or more above my current age. That’s just how it is in my tiny corner of the world.
Anyway, the other reasons I’d like to offer as to why I feel older women are (also) hot are as follows:
1) They know us men, for better or worse. Thankfully, the ones I dated were stoic about the various odd behaviours some of us males demonstrate in a relationship and regarded them as part of the whole package, like the watermelon you want to eat except for the hard seeds and raw rinds. (Sorry, it’s the only analogy I could come up with now.) In hindsight, this aspect was covered by the author as an example of experience, wasn’t it. Oh well, at least we have watermelons now.
2) This might sound awful or cringe-worthy, but they really know how to cook well. Before I get thrown under the bus, please let me declare that I cook for myself almost everyday. No, not microwave food or instant ramen. I mean the whole process of cutting veggies, washing and cooking rice, adding spices and broths, and making sure I don’t burn my food. I love cooking in my kitchen and can make decent sushi. My Japanese mom said so. But I just want to make the point that the older women I dated were seasoned chefs with access to a palette of flavours I had never imagined existed before.
Both reasons come down to experience after all, don’t they. And hopefully I don’t sound too patronizing when I give the following words of encouragement to the younger men and women: You, too, may one day be the significantly older one on the date with all the experience (and gentle wisdom) under your belts.
Thank you, Ari Love!
