Being Japanese in Taiwan is not a disadvantage to say the least, despite being occupied after the Qing Dynasty and until the end of WWII. But I’ve always been cautious not to get too comfortable with the welcome I receive. People don’t easily forget history. But I think the younger generation are doing well with the exchange of pop culture in addition to the impact of tourism.
