I see a lot of people hating others, thinking it's change things. It does. It disrupts, poisons, destabilizes, corrupts, corrodes...you get the idea.
Love is forgiveness (of yourself). And I think people forget that, and they do things in their state of insecurity and fear. So, to answer your question (in your story), the reason we collectively don't love as we should is not because hating is easier but rather it is more familiar. Hating actually requires a great deal of energy, contrary to popular belief. Loving, on the other hand, is releasing energy, light. And it's easier than hating. Some of us just need to be shown how because it's unfamiliar. That's all there is to it.
