Hi Alvin, you probably don’t need me to tell you: the negative comments are not necessarily directed at you but are projections of what quitters feel about their experiences. So don’t take them seriously. And the ones who actually call you names are…well, better to ignore them. If you have nothing nice to say about (bleeps), don’t say anything at all.
I currently live in the land of the rising apathy (Japan) and work at the University of Apathy operated by leaderless eunuchs, the worst kind.
But the points you make are all valid. There are different sides to a coin. It’s not a 2-dimensional smooth-surface object, and neither is working in Japan for a Japanese-run company or institution a 100% predictable experience.
I think more can and should be written on this topic if interested people want to be prepared before they arrive.
But your story is engaging and appreciated. Thanks!
