Hi Philippa, this piece resonated with me, because I have always found it challenging to reconcile with past "issues", shall we say, that made me feel victimised. (British spelling) Previously, I fought the notion that "taking ownership" or "being accountable" was re-pointing the blame finger at myself, which rather reinforced my victimhood. But your article makes sense if I reframe " take ownership" as a recognition that only I can decide for myself if I want to wallow in the mud pond forever or get out and walk on solid ground again.
Well, that's my take-away anyway. LoL
Thanks for sharing!
