I clicked on this article because I was curious as to what people were quitting: smoking? intermittent fasting? kombucha? social media? selfies?

Then I was very perplexed to see it was about writing. How does one quit writing? I would get "quit writing for a boss, a company, or a college instructor" if you know they're going to say it sucks before they even read what you've written.

Then I read your reasons. And I understood.

Aaah. Right. I get it. But I don't identify with those "quitters" (uttered very affectionately and empathetically from my lips) even though I happen to qualify for a couple of the reasons you've outlined.

#1: Under 1K Followers --> Mine are under ten different individual human beings. If it's more than ten, my mom and aunties have multiple accounts.

#2: Wrote for <60 days --> No. I started in mid 2021.

#3: Wrote infrequently --> You bet. Too busy reading other people's articles.

#4: The Journal Writer --> No. I hate writing to myself. I don't trust myself as an audience.

#5: Money focused --> Hahahahahahaha. Uh-no.

#6: Using the # format --> No. I'm too lazy to look for that key on my keyboard.

Frankly, I came here to learn to become a writer without having to join on-line classes on sites such as SkillShare, MasterClass, Domestika, Udemy, Coursera, and others. Their discount offers are too infrequent for me.

Medium is different, for me at least. It's simple and straightforward. I don't have to impress anyone (except the grammarians -- I know my English teacher is out there somewhere waiting to pounce on me). I just have to write with purpose and for a particular audience, re-check my spelling and subject-verb agreements, and pray Medium doesn't deactivate my account for my writing.

So far so good. And most importantly, I am inspired by other writers as this platform has thus far been ideal for its brand of inclusiveness and community.

Am I naive? You bet.
