I had a similar kind of experience on multiple occasions and on different continents, but it took me 20+ years and Covid to finally end my career as a school teacher. I didn’t have issues with students. My problem was my inability to fit into a culture where I couldn’t be myself. Just a poor fit in a dysfunctional team. So gradually, I stopped trying and started letting go. This nonsense, called social compliance euphemistically termed “fitting in”, is a recipe for what I call premature death. Death in itself is not a bad thing. It’s part of the cycle of life. As in premature birth where the fetus hasn’t fully developed, however, premature death is when a person hasn’t lived a life free of regrets.
