I think that among all the other resonating quotes from your article, I felt I needed to leave my two cents here. I completely agree. We need to be good models for our children/future generation. They ARE watching, even when we think they aren’t. And they’ll learn or remember whatever we’re showing and whatever we think we’re not showing them. It’s fine to think we’re doing something good for them. But really, shouldn’t it also be for our own sense of social responsibility and gratitude? To contribute back for what we received? The First Nation peoples (native Americans) had the wisdom of acknowledging that their land and its flora and fauna were not theirs to “own” as the colonizing Europeans believed and their descendants still believe. Nothing is truly ours for ourselves only. Everything is on loan. We were born naked with nothing but an umbilical cord connecting us to our mothers. Then we die with nothing but the funeral clothes we wear (if we’re so lucky).
Sorry for the essay! LoL
Thanks for the engaging read!
P.S. and if the pre-millennial/GenZ generations can get our act together, we could leave our environment as clean if not cleaner than before.
